Daystar student charged with fraud
A student from Daystar University has been charged with fraudulently obtaining six million shillings from a businesses woman.
Charity Wangari Mwangi, was charged alongside John Kuiyaki before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate, Martha Mutuku, where they denied the charges.
The two are accused that on September 20, 2016 and December 19, 2016 at Westlands, jointly with others not before court with intent to defraud, obtained 6.6 million shillings from Joyce Nyaguthi Kibe by falsely pretending that the money was to finance an order to supply herbicides to Siani Roses Flower Farm in Kitengela, a fact they knew to be untrue.
They pleaded not guilty and asked for lenient bail terms after the defense told the court that the first accused is a student at a local university and was not a flight risk.
The matter will be mentioned on January 26, 2017 and heard on March 16 of this year.
They were released on a bond of one million shillings or cash bail of 200,000 shillings.
