DCI detectives dispatched to probe Kenyatta National Hospital rape allegations

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has dispatched officers to Kenyatta National Hospital to look into the allegations of rape at the facility.

The detectives will reportedly conduct interviews with patients, hospital staff as well as the visitors.

The dispatched detectives have been given till the end of the week to conduct their investigations, get to the root of the matter and submit their reports.

The move by the DCI comes after a number of victims came out to expose morgue attendants whom they said had, for quite a long time, been raping mothers still nursing their after-birth experiences at the facility.

The damning allegations saw Health CS Cleopa Mailu order the KNH management to beef up security to protect patients and their relatives.

The directive by the DCI also comes barely a day after women leaders, led by the chair lady of the Parliamentary Committee on Health Sabina Chege, on Saturday toured the hospital on a fact-finding mission.

In a press statement, KNH CEO Lily Koros however denied any cases of rape going on at the facility, urging victims to register their complaints through suggestion boxes provided.
