Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday foiled a fake gold syndicate, arresting two Nairobi businessmen who swindled a foreigner.
In a statement on Twitter, the DCI said detectives burst into house No. 91 in Nairobi’s Convent Drive, Lavington, and arrested Jackson Maina and Awuyene Mbombo.
During the stint operation, they seized four metal boxes containing fake gold nuggets, assorted stamps and gold smelting equipment.
The two suspects are directors of Airlink Freight Limited and had promised a Burkina Faso citizen that they could sell him gold.
