DCI detectives raid Goldenscape offices, round up employees

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday raided Goldenscape Agribusiness Investment offices in Karen, Nairobi and rounded up five staff members for questioning.

The five Goldenscape employees are said to have been in the office during the raid that saw the detectives take away documents and computers for examination

Officers made their way into the offices and recovered 10 desktop computers and records detailing the investment’s financial transactions among other documents that detectives say will help strengthen the case against the chief executive officer Peter Wangai.

Detectives are pursuing Goldenscape CEO Peter Wangai who went missing on March 2, 2020 when he shutdown his offices in Nairobi’s Central Business District and Lower Kabete.

Some 83 individuals have already recorded statements with the financial crimes investigation unit of the DCI detailing the fraudulent deals they were lured into by Wangai leading to the loss of billions.

Wangai is likely to face 83 counts of obtaining money by false pretence upon his arrest.

Goldenscape greenhouses offered investors the option of leasing greenhouses with contracts that promised rich returns, only to fail to pay them from late last year despite numerous promises and assurances.
