Deadline for application for PSC internship positions today

The deadline for recruitment of Public Service Commission (PSC) interns is today, October 29.

Vacancies for the 12-month program has been announced last month with PSC looking to hire 3,600 interns.

“On successful completion of the Internship program, the intern will be awarded a certificate,” the advertisement reads.

Reports indicated that an average of 3000 staff exit from public service every year with no significant number of youth taking up the vacant spots.

“About 20 per cent of the workforce will retire in two to three years,” Public Service PS Margaret Kobia told the Daily Nation.

Kenyan universities are said to produce over 50,000 graduates annually.

The PSC internship program requires applicants to have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university and proficiency in computer skills.

Applicants also need to have graduated from college not earlier than the year 2015.

“Those recruited will be expected to complete the duties mutually agreed upon and assigned by the supervisors, document relevant skills acquired in their areas of deployment  and actively participate in any relevant mentorship activities and additional responsibilities designed for the program,” PSC said.

Applications are to be done online through the commission’s job portal.

Successful candidates will be given a stipend that will be determined by the commission.
