Deceased officer Kipyegon Kenei attached to Ruto office was to wed in August

The family of Kipyegon Kenei, the deceased AP officer who was attached to DP Ruto’s office, have revealed that they learnt of his death through the radio.

The father Chesang faulted the government saying his family should have been notified first before news hit the headlines.

“It is painful our child was killed like that, I wish there was more consideration to notify us first before taking it to the media,” he said.

According to Mr. Chesang, his son’s fiancée and their two children have been unable to leave the house since they got wind of the devastating news.

Their first child is in Form One while the second just turned a week-old.

Mr. Chesang further revealed that the late Kenei was to walk down the aisle in August this year and plans for the wedding had been ongoing.

Citizen Digital has established that the deceased had been home over the past weekend on a two-day visit.

After the visit however, he reportedly stopped picking phone calls from his family members sending them into a mode of panic.

His family wants the government to expedite investigations into the death as they refute claims that he may have taken his own life.

The officer is alleged to have shot himself on the head with preliminary investigations claiming that he had left behind a suicide note.

The contents of the suicide note have not been made public.

According to David Mugonyi, DP Ruto’s Communication Secretary, the officer had not reported to work since Wednesday, February 19.

It was on this day that he had been scheduled to appear before the DCI to record a statement over the controversial arms deal scam involving former CS Rashid Echesa.
