Defiant Sonko tells off MCAs, says will continue to run Nairobi from Machakos

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has told off those insisting that he move county operations from his home in Machakos back to Nairobi saying he will not be blackmailed.

Speaking to journalists in Mua after a memorial service for his late father on Friday, the Nairobi County boss maintained that he will not relocate to City Hall.

He was responding to an ultimatum from MCAs through their Majority leader Abdi Guyo that he move back to Nairobi within two weeks.

Sonko remained defiant stating that he will not be cowed by the ward reps who he claims are out to give him undue pressure.

The Nairobi Governor moved operations to his Mua home in Machakos four months ago citing “security reasons”.

Those who seek audience with him are often times told to go to Mua.

On the recent impeachment of Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi, Sonko said those he did have a constitutional right to do so.

Elachi was impeached on Thursday evening but a few hours later obtained conservatory orders blocking her removal from office.
