Deporting Miguna a shame to Africa, Governor Ojaamong tells Jubilee

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has termed the circumstances surrounding the deportation of self-proclaimed NRM ‘General’ Miguna Miguna as a shame of great multitudes to the entire African continent.

Governor Ojaamong was speaking in reference to the deportation being a violation of a court order that directed the government to free the tough-talking Kenyan-Canadian lawyer.

“Deporting Miguna Miguna to Canada is a shame to African countries. How can you deport someone from his birth country to a country he just went to seek education in so as to copme back and help us all? So even those doctors who went to study abroad and got dual citizenship, when they come back here and are caught in little mistakes, they will be deported back to those countries,” said Ojaamong.

The governor, who was speaking in Amagoro, Teso South, also urged the Jubilee government to seek dialogue for the continuing political tension in the country.

“Kenyan citizens want peace. Let the government start working instead of engaging in such theatrics. Let them also conduct dialogue so that those who were not satisfied can present their pleas for a solution to be found,” added Governor Ojaamong.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangí on Wednesday said Miguna “was in the country illegally and his presence in Kenya was contrary to National interest,” hence his deportation.

Meanwhile, Miguna has promised legal action against the Kenyan government for what he termed as a outright violation of his constitutional rights.

In the strongly worded statement to newsrooms, Miguna denied ever renouncing his citizenship as was alleged by the government as justification for his ejection from the country.
