Despite stripping over abuses hurled at Raila, MCA loses in ODM primaries

An MCA who made headlines in 2015 for stripping naked after a parody account posted offensive tweets about Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has been shown the door in the ongoing party primaries.

The sitting Central Gem MCA had set his eyes on the Kisumu Central Constituency seat, but he lost out after the incumbent, Ken Obura, garnered 24,601 votes against his (Ouda’s) 13,613.

Speaking to Citizen Digital moments after the results were announced, Ouda claimed that there results were doctored.

Citing his unwavering support for Raila Odinga and his popularity on the ground, Ouda claimed that there was no way Obura could have trounced him in a free and fair exercise.

“I love Raila so much, and I have been a dedicated supporter of the ODM Party. I have worked closely with the former Prime Minister…there is no way I lost,” he said.

Ouda and his supporters pleaded with party leader Raila Odinga, asking him to look into the rigging claims.

Naked Protest

In 2015, a parody account bearing the name of Deputy President William Ruto tweeted: “Let them go back to their flying toilets, you can’t help a fly that wants to follow a corpse to the grave. ‪#‎Kibera.”

Posted after youth destroyed toilets built by the Jubilee government in Kibra Slum – the tweet seemed to allude that the youth were allied to Raila Odinga, and that the destruction of toilets was as a result of this alliance.

Reacting to the tweet without verifying the ownership of the account, Ouda stripped naked in his office to protest the abusive comments.
