Detectives exhume body of 66-year-old man allegedly killed by son

Homicide detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters led an exhumation exercise of the body of 66-year-old businessman Henry Maina Muthangu who was allegedly murdered by his son Jackson Nderitu Maina.

It is alleged that Nderitu, 44, killed his father and buried him in a shallow grave with the motive of inheriting his property.

The exhumation conducted under the supervision of chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor came after police arrested and interrogated Nderitu.

In dismay, villagers of Mwiruti in Laikipia County watched as detectives retrieved the body of a neighbour they thought was out of town for work.

Area Chief Patrick Mahinda called on families to respect the property of their kin and work hard to build their own lives.

“Tafuta mali yako kama kijana wachana na mali ya baba yako kwa sababu hata mzazi alitafuta hiyo mali unataka kurithi,” he said.

The 44-year-old is presently in police custody awaiting arraignment on Monday.

A post mortem examination on the body of Henry Maina will also be conducted on Monday to establish the exact cause of death.
