Detectives probe killing of Form 2 student

Police in Homa Bay County have launched investigations into the death of a Form Two student from Mititi Secondary School whose body was found dumped in Mikiria village, Rachuonyo South Sub County.

The body of 17-year-old Gilbert Ogola was discovered with deep cuts on the neck and both hands tied, by villagers who were collecting building stones in the nearby thicket.

According to the area Assistant Chief Erick Otieno Achola, it is suspected that the deceased was stabbed on the neck and his body dumped.

Achola added that the student was last seen on Sunday evening riding on an unknown motorbike within Karogo trading center before he went missing.

The school deputy principal, George Obote, says the student was last seen in the school last Thursday and never asked for permission to be away, hence, the administration never knew of his whereabouts.

Homa Bay County Police Commander Marius Tum said investigations into the incident are underway.

The body was moved to Rachuonyo District Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
