Detectives to detain suspected serial killer Evans Wanjala for 21 more days

An Eldoret court has granted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) 21 more days to complete investigations into the suspected killings perpetrated by 20-year-old Evans Wanjala in Moi’s Bridge, Uasin Gishu County.

Wanjala was not presented in court on Thursday as the DCI filed an application seeking for more time before Senior Resident Magistrate Naomi Wairimu.

The magistrate further allowed investigators to exhume the body of Grace Njeri, who was alleged to have been one of Wanjala’s victims.

12-year-old Njeri was reported to have gone missing on May 21, 2020 before her decomposed body parts were discovered on June 18, 2020 at Soronoi farm.

The court was told that she was buried with other body parts missing.

Wanjala, who has been listed by sleuths as a key suspect into the killings, accompanied homicide detectives to Moi’s Bridge last week, where he took officers to five scenes where he alleged to have committed the murders.

Meanwhile, the court also released Daniel Kiprugut Maru, who had been arrested alongside Wanjala after police failed to find evidence linking him to the murders.
