Development and Productivity are Being Criminalized, Says Kabando

Mukurwe-Ini Member of Parliament Kabando wa Kabando accused CRA of floating and adopting a skewed formulae that marginalises the most productive counties in the country.

Kabando said that the formulae has ‘criminalised’ productivity and development saying that some counties are enjoying undue advantage as a result of the formulae.

“This formulae by the Commission on Revenue Allocation is not acceptable as it has marginalized the already developed and very productive counties,” said Mr. Kabando.

“We need to be told since when did productivity and development become criminal in this country. Why are the most productive counties being treated like non-entities?”

Victims of the new constitutional dispensation

The tough speaking legislator said that CRA has taken advantage of the new constitutional dispensation to disadvantage some counties.

“The most productive counties are being taken for a ride in resources allocation. They are victims of the new constitution.”

Kabando noted that CRA should have considered the contribution of each county to the country’s economy before settling on the requisite amount for each.

He said that the less productive areas in the country contribute too little to the country’s economy yet they receive a huge piece of the national cake.

He called on the revenue commission to re-think its formulae lest the National Assembly takes the decision to reverse the formulae.

He was speaking after a church service in Kahuho, Kabete where they had accompanied the Kabete parliamentary aspirant Ferdinand Waititu.
