Devolution conference kicks off in Kakamega

The Devolution Conference 2018  has officially kicked off in Kakamega County.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to officially open the 5th Devolution Conference with security at top notch.

In this year’s conference, his Big Four agenda is expected to take centre stage with Council of Governors Chair Josephat Nanok saying that over 6,000 delegates will be present for the discussions.

The conference will take stock of the achievements of devolved functions so far and discuss how well county and national governments can work to make it a success.

Earlier on, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa indicated that the conference would cost Ksh.200 million adding that the region was fully prepared to host the four-day event.

He also noted that most of the services during the conference would be provided by locals so that they may also experience the benefits of devolution.
