Digital Registration Commences

Phase one of the project will see implementation of a digital registry of persons giving Kenyans a unique digital identifier to replace all documents issued from birth to death, except passports.

The project spearheaded by Kenya citizens and foreign nationals management service headed by Acting Director General Mwende Gatabaki, will also oversee digitization of government services.

Gatabati revealed that over 40% of births and over 50% of deaths are not captured in the national registry, complicating national planning while promoting identity theft and fraud.
