Ditch your parties for Jubilee if you support Uhuru, Karua, Kenneth told

Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and National Congress Party leader Peter Kenneth have been asked to dissolve their parties first to prove their commitment to the Jubilee government.

Speaking in Tetu Constituency Sunday, the two leaders were urged to fold their parties by Water CS Eugine Wamalwa and Kieni MP Kanini Kega.

Wamalwa said Karua and Kenneth show their support for the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta by joining Jubilee Party.

“I am very happy that our friends can now see the light and have decided to join us. In Western Kenya, we have already dissolved all our parties; New Ford Kenya and all our MCAs and governors are now in Jubilee supporting Kenyatta’s re-election,” said the CS.

“If you have decided to undress and jump into the Jubilee bath, don’t be afraid of shedding your current party’s clothes so that we can all bathe together,” he added.

The CS says Kenneth was wise to abandon his presidential quest and opt for governorship.

“I was very pleased to hear Kenneth has come to terms with the reality that the presidential election is a two-horse race,” said Wamalwa.

MP Kega said the two would not be taken seriously in the run-up to the General Election if they didn’t dissolve their parties and join Jubilee – this is despite him welcoming their decision to support Kenyatta.

“Karua and Kenneth have seen the light. But they must follow what Eugene Wamalwa did with New Ford Kenya party,” he said.

The Kieni MP said they wish the two well in the gubernatorial quests, adding that he would support them as long as they joined the Jubilee party.

“We have given them two weeks to convene a national delegates’ conference and unanimously agree to dissolve their parties,” he added.

Karua, a fierce critic of the Jubilee administration who unsuccessfully ran for president in 2016, last week announced her support for President Kenyatta in a highly unprecedented move. Up until then, she had been seen to be a close ally of the Opposition.

Despite her support for the coalition’s push to oust Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners, Karua says she has never joined Cord.

Peter Kenneth, who also ran for president in 2013, has indicated intention to dissolve his party to join Jubilee, unlike Karua who intends to run on a NARC-Kenya ticket.
