DNA confirms late MP Ken Okoth fathered Nairobi MCAs child

A DNA test has confirmed that Nairobi Member of County Assembly Ann Thumbi’s son was indeed fathered by late Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth.

The news comes following reports of confusion prompted by the legislator’s death upon which Nairobi Governor Sonko laid bare details of a love affair between Mr. Okoth and Ms. Thumbi.

Speaking at the memorial service of the late MP at Moi Girl’s High School in Kibra on August 1, Sonko condemned the alleged exclusion of the nominated MCA and her son from funeral arrangements.

The Nairobi county chief strongly stated that the three-year-old child was the late Kibra MP’s son, hence he should be embraced and allowed to be part of his father’s final send off.

“Ken had a son with one of the nominated Nairobi MCAs by the name Ann Thumbi alias Anita. The two love birds did not hide the fact that they shared a son. Ken recognised and was there for his son as demonstrated by pictures and various documented correspondences,” said Sonko.

Ms. Thumbi was on August 3 however left out of Mr. Okoth’s private early morning cremation at Kariokor and did not oversee the process despite a court order issued the previous day.

Evans Olouch, who is the late Okoth’s nephew, previously intimated to Citizen Digital that the Kibra MP’s mother and other relatives were left out in an alleged night meeting that decided on the cremation.

He also added that that everyone, including Okoth’s mother and his wife Monica, knew about the existence of Ms. Thumbi’s child.

“As a family we knew about Ken’s son and anybody in the family who will say otherwise will be telling a big lie. The family knew very well about Ken’s son even Monica knew about this child so taking DNA samples was just a waste of time since Ken was in full support of his child,” said Oluoch.
