Dogs Maul Guard to Death in Baba Dogo

A night guard at a company in Baba Dogo, Nairobi County was Sunday night mauled to death by eight dogs that were guarding the company premises with him.

Mohamed Godana, 30, was on duty at smart logistics as a watchman when the dogs, among them German shepherds and Rottweiler’s, attacked him at half past midnight.

Police had to shoot in the air to scare the dogs after G4s guards tried to chase them away but failed.

Other workers reported that they too had been attacked by the same dogs, including the deceased who is said to have had another encounter with the dogs in December last year just two weeks after he began his employment at the company  .

One of the company’s directors, Abdul Daud, said that the incident came as a shock to them since the dogs have been trained and even showing journalists the dog’s training licenses and vaccination certificates.

According to Daud the police officers should have aimed at the dogs instead of shooting in the air to save Mohamed’s life.

“A dog is not worth human life, I don’t want dogs anymore. I have called people to come take them away,” said Daud.

Godana’s family in Isiolo made travel arrangements to Nairobi for his burial and was laid to rest at the Kariokor cemetery according to Islamic customs.
