Don’t blame me for your troubles, Muturi tell Wambora

The National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has dismissed claims by Embu Governor Martin Wambora that he has been behind his political tribulations.

Muturi, who was speaking in Siakago, Mbeere North said the Embu Governor has portrayed poor leadership and misplaced priorities in the county’s development agenda.

The National Assembly Speaker further accused the Governor of failing to involve the public in his development plans and thus creating room for his own failure by lacking a clear and balanced development agenda.

He said it is demeaning for him, considering his national stature, to involve himself with petty politics and asked Wambora to spare him from his self inflicted tribulations.

He, however, said being a local and armed with a voting card, he will exercise his democratic right to elect a Governor of his choice come 2017.

Mr. Muturi, who is a former Member of Parliament, for Mbeere North called on the Governor to chart his political future wisely by bringing into play constitution provisions and sit with his people through the acclaimed public partnership principal, and gauge their needs and requirements instead of fronting ghost projects.

He further described as misplaced and a waste of time for Governor Wambora to present himself on national television channels such as Citizen TV and blindly advance his perceived development agenda that is not people driven.

Last week, Governor Wambora – while appearing on Citizen TV’s Cheche programme – linked Speaker Muturi to political woes bedeviling his administration as the first Governor of Embu.

Wambora’s comments followed remarks by Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire hinting out that she will be running for the Governor’s post in 2017 and that she had the blessings of the National Assembly and area leaders including the Speaker himself, Senator Lenny Kivuti and the Embu County Assembly Speaker Kariuki Mate among others.
