Dont criticize Jubilee from hotel rooms Murkomen to CORD

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has launched a scathing attack on Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) over their criticism of Jubilee’s development record.

Murkomen told CORD leaders to desist from making unsubstantiated claims in their press conferences and instead visit rural areas to understand the impact of Jubilee’s development projects on the Kenyans.

“CORD needs to shift from holding press conferences in big hotels and visit rural areas to see what Jubilee government has done in the three years it has been in power,” said Murkomen.

Speaking at Ainabkoi on Sunday, the Senate Deputy Majority Leader said it was laughable that CORD was on the forefront in criticising the government yet it was facing discontent within it.

He said that the government is carrying out transformative projects on the ground calling on the opposition to support the drive.

Murkomen was speaking in response to CORD’s address on Saturday where they accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of using the State of the Nation address to propagate their agenda.

Raila claimed that Jubilee had fallen short of its promises to Kenyans saying most of their pre-election pledges are yet to be fulfilled.

He said Jubilee had only managed to generate an additional 675MW of power in three years falling short of their 5,000MW pledge.

Odinga further noted that the President’s assurance that the government had constructed 3,000km of road was fictitious adding that no road has been constructed in the last two years.

“We challenge President Kenyatta to show the 3,000km of roads it has constructed in the last years by category and region,” stated Raila.

The ODM leader also claimed that the government had bloated the cost of constructing Standard Gauge Railway from the initial Ksh 220 billion to Ksh 327 billion and then Ksh 447B adding that the cost will rise by Ksh 150B when the construction of Nairobi-Naivasha line commences.
