Speaking during an event dubbed the ‘Festival of the Greats’, Kipchoge Keino told the athletes that doping could lead to the whole country being penalised for four years.

Elgeiyo Marakwet County Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, who spoke at the event, echoed Kipchoge’s sentiments and further advised the athletes to spend the money they earn from athletics wisely.

The event, which was organised by Kipchoge Keino’s son Abraham Keino, was meant to celebrate Kenyan steeplechase runners who have never been beaten since 1946 and  was sponsored by Radio Citizen and Chamgei FM, family Bank and Brookside Dairies.
