Dont Sign Contentious Contracts With KTDA, Farmers Told

Speaking in Kigumo constituency during a project inspection tour, Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria said that his County is not against contracts but will not allow farmers to sign contacts that have contention and are viewed as draconian.

Mwangi added that farmers must be first be engaged and their input recorded so that the contracts can be mutually agreed to by both the farmers and KTDA.

He said that KTDA cannot force farmers to enter into a contract whose consent is not sought adding that as a county they will hire lawyers that will help draft the agreement so that it can be capture best interest of farmers

He concluded the County government is not in support of any program that is forcing farmers to enter into contracts.
