DP Ruto congratulates his ally Feisal Bader on Msambweni win

Deputy President William Ruto took to Twitter to celebrate his ally Feisal Bader for winning the Msambweni MP seat.

Bader, an independent candidate, garnered 15,251 votes against Boga Omari (ODM) who got 10,444 votes in the Tuesday by-election.

“CONGRATULATION my friend Feisal Bader. Your win CEMENTS our trust in GOD and the PEOPLE. DEMOCRACY and PEOPLE POWER have TRIUMPHED.WATU wa MSAMBWENI MUNGU awabariki. Pongexi E.Mwihaki(Gaturi), S.Wanango(Lakeview), K.Ochieng( Wendani) & all winners. To others there’s next time,” Dr. Ruto said.

The Msambweni seat became vacant following the death of MP Suleiman Ramadhani Dori who succumbed to cancer in March this year.

Bader is the nephew to the late Dori who was affiliated to the ODM party.

Three months ago, DP Ruto hosted Bader at his Karen home a day after declaring his support for the decision by Jubilee Party to withdraw from the Msambweni by-election.

Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju had said the decision not to field a candidate was made following “consultations within the party” and in the spirit of the handshake deal with ODM.

He asked aspirants who were hoping to vie for the seat on a Jubilee Party ticket to seek other alternatives.

“This announcement has been made in good time so that any aspirant who has interest in a Jubilee ticket still has other pathways to running for this seat,” added Tuju.

ODM Party Director of Elections Junet Mohamed welcomed the Jubilee Party’s decision to opt out of the race saying it provides an opportunity to focus on national duties.
