DP Ruto forgives his ICC fixer, says his innocence has been proven

Deputy President William Ruto now says he has forgiven those who ‘fixed’ him at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Speaking for the first time since the ICC Trial Chamber terminated his case, Ruto said he was fixed at the ICC and that “the allegations that were made against me were criminal acts of evil minds that connived against us.”

“And for those who hired, bribed and coached witnesses to bring his case against me, I pray that God will bring them to repentance,” said Ruto

The DP rubbished claims of witness tampering and political interference saying that that the ICC verdict of terminating the case against him was for the sole reason that he was innocent.

Ruto maintained his innocence over the 2007/08 post poll violence saying that  he did not plan or finance or support any violence related acts as claimed by the ICC Prosecutors.

“I can confirm that there was no meeting in my house or anywhere I know to plan violence against Kenyans or harm anyone.”

“I did not attend any fundraising to buy anything to harm anyone and there were no weapons in my house, purchased by anyone I know or used to harm anyone.”

Speaking in the company of his wife Rachael Ruto, his mother Sarah Cheruiyot and his children at his residence in Karen, the DP thanked his family and the entire country for standing with him.

“I also thank my defense team for their professionalism, hard work, commitment and for believing in my innocence,” he said.

“And to all members of the clergy, together with millions of Kenyans who fasted and prayed for me, we can confirm that indeed God answers prayers and that indeed He is faithful.”
