DP Ruto rubbishes claims he is against lifestyle audit

Deputy President William Ruto says he is ready and willing to be among the first leaders to undergo the lifestyle audit as directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking during the 43rd annual Kenya Secondary School Heads Conference in Mombasa County on Wednesday, Ruto dismissed claims that he is against the process.

The DP further stated that he will be among the first civil servants to undergo the lifestyle audit.

Ruto insisted that he is in support of President Kenyatta’s efforts to fight corruption in the country, contrary to what he says has been reported by a section of the media.

On the education front, the DP also urged secondary school heads to work closely with the government to ensure students are safe in public schools across the country.

“The commitment to deliver transformative education matches our agenda. We need all teachers on board, ready to lead the promise of Vision 2030, the Constitution and the Big Four,” said the DP.

Ruto said the government will not tolerate sexual harassment and other illegal acts against students, further urging teachers to ensure a conducive environment for leaning in schools.

The DP also instructed the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) management to provide health cover to students to enable them get health services within their respective schools.

The government is expected to pay a minimum of Ksh.1, 350 per student for the three million students as part of efforts to fulfill one pillar of the Big Four agenda on provision of affordable health services.
