DP Ruto rubbishes opposition criticism, urges Kenyans to register as voters

Deputy President William Ruto has told off opposition leaders for questioning Jubilee Government’s track record, saying they will focus their energies on realizing their development agenda.

The deputy president assured aspirants seeking various seats under the Jubilee Party ticket that the party’s primaries would be free and fair as he rallied citizens to register as voters to take part in the August General Election.

The DP was speaking during a meeting with Jubilee Party leaders from western region at Mumias Guest House where he later addressed Jubilee aspirants at the Mumias Sports Complex in Kakamega County.

“First is to ensure all our citizens are registered as voters so when we’re looking for votes we’re asking for votes they have,” said the deputy president.

“It is our responsibility as aspirants to ensure we’re asking for votes that citizens have. Find a way to ensure residents of your constituencies and wards have voters’ cards,” he added.

The deputy president arrived in Mumias, Kakamega County on Monday to campaign for residents to register as voters.

Among MPs accompanying Ruto were Ben Washiali of Mumias East, Mary Emase of Teso South, Boniface Otsula of Bumula, Ikolomani’s Benard Shinali and Matungu’s David Were.

Meanwhile, President Uhuru Kenyatta is in Mararal Town, Samburu County on a similar voter registration drive and is meeting Governor Moses Lenolkulal and area MPs ahead of a rally at Maralal bus terminus and Kenyatta stadium before heading to Laikipia County.
