DP Ruto: We Will Secure Kenya-Somalia Border

The deputy president says the government is currently seeking advice from AMISOM to ensure that Kenya Defense Force secure the border permanently.

Ruto who was speaking on Citizen TV's Cheche programme said the move is to prevent Al Shabab militants from entering Kenya from the neighbouring Somalia.

He was speaking a day after Al Shabaab militants crossed over to Kenya and killed 36 people in Mandera.

According to Ruto, the 36 miners who were killed in Mandera early Tuesday morning had been asked by police to vacate the area but refused.

He added that the miners instead blamed police for forcefully ejecting them from area.

The DP also urged Kenyans to keep close watch on each other in order to fight rising insecurity in the country.
