Leaders from the Rift Valley and Western Kenya regions are now calling on Deputy President William Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula to bury their political differences and work together ahead of the 2022 elections.

Speaking during the home coming of Kiptuya Ward MCA Jack Kevolwe, leaders from Luhya and Kalenjin communities called for the formation of an alliance that could see one of their own become the fifth president of Kenya come 2022.

“We, as the Luhyas, stood with Moi for 24 years. Ruto, you’re still a young man, Mudavadi is your senior; support him for presidency and become his deputy. God’s time is the best time,” said former Kakamega Senator Bonni Khalwale.

“Luhyas say that when a hyena wants to eat its own children, it first accuses them of smelling like a goat. We will not be eaten. Leave 2022 politics to another tribe,” said Wetangula.

However, despite DP Ruto saying it is still too early to dwell on 2022 politics, leaders from Jubilee reiterated that they would continue to support and rally for Ruto’s election as president.

“As Jubilee, we are ready and refuse to allow Raila to come and destroy our home, but I want to urge my friends Wetangula and Mudavadi to ready themselves,” said Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei.

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, on his part, said, “We urge you to agree between yourselves and present us with a suitable candidate so we can decide on how we will complete this race. But Ruto is already closer, let him serve his 10 years then you, Wetangula and Mudavadi, will follow.”

Chesumei MP Wilson Sogo added that, “Let Ruto become President with either Wetangula or Mudavadi as running mate so we can all benefit.”

Terming the talks between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga without their inclusivity as selfish, Mudavadi called on the formation of a political outfit that will see more communities elected to the presidency come 2022 going forward.
