DP Rutos message to Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula

Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday, March 10, extended an olive branch to NASA co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula, urging them to support the Jubilee government.

Ruto said time had come for all Kenyans to unite and support the development agenda of the Jubilee Government.

This came a day after National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga met with President Uhuru Kenyatta and called for unity in the country.

The other NASA co principals; Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula, cried foul saying they had neither been consulted nor invited to the meeting between President Kenyatta and Odinga.

Ruto, however, told the three opposition co-principals to stop complaining and instead put the country’s interests first.

“This is not the time to cry foul about consultations and dialogue. We want all Kenyans to join hand and support the Government for the sake of unity and development,” said Ruto.

Speaking at Turbo Hill Catholic church in Ol jororok, Nyandarua county, Ruto said time for politicking was now over and Kenyans should now focus on development.

“We are glad that time for politics and elections are over. What happened yesterday was a clear indication that we are now opening a new chapter for development. We will now concentrate on delivering to the people what the Jubilee Government promised,” said the DP.

The Deputy President urged all other leaders to support the government and not dwell too much on the 2022 General Election.

“We should now set politics aside and develop and unite the country. This is what we have been elected to do as leaders. The next General Election is four years away and Kenyans are now tired of politics each and every day,” he said.

He observed that unity of Kenyans was paramount hailing the opposition leader for the move he made by agreeing to end political descent and unite the country.

Other leaders who accompanied the Deputy President supported the move by Raila Odinga saying that it would unite the country hence steer the nation towards development.

They included Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia, Senators Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet), Mwangi Githiomi (Nyandarua), John Kinyua (Laikipia), Laikipia Woman Rep Catherine Waruguru and MPs Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu), Michael Muchira (Ol jororok), David Kiaraho (Ol Kalou) and Amos Kimunya (Kipipiri).

They said that time had come for the rest of the NASA co-principals to come to terms with the fact that President Kenyatta was the duly elected President.

“We want to tell them to follow suit and support the Jubilee government. This is the will of the people so that the country can now move forward. Their leader made a good move which they should respect,” said Murkomen.

On Saturday, Mudavadi dismissed the truce reached by President Kenyatta and Odinga, terming it as a “conceited and selfish” agreement between two individuals.

Speaking during a press address in Mombasa, Mudavadi said the agreement between President Kenyatta and Mr. Odinga was neither reflective of the wishes of the NASA coalition nor in the interest of all Kenyans.
