DPP Haji wants police to probe ‘Hessy wa Dandora’ group
Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji wants police to investigate and unmask a vigilante group in Nairobi’s Eastlands area believed to be led by an undercover cop famously known as ‘Hessy.’
The DPP on Thursday said he will write to Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to take action on the ‘Hessy’ group, which kills supposed criminals in Dandora, Kayole and other areas in Eastlands area.
“No one should be killed; suspects must go through legal process. I will write to IG to investigate on Hessy vigilante group,” said the DPP.
He was speaking at the Kayole Social Hall during a community dialogue with local residents and was accompanied by the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti.
The DPP urged residents to help security agencies in identifying criminal elements in the area, as he assured of protection.
“Expose criminals we shall protect you as a witness. No victimization. Those who have spoken & exposed sensitive issues in this forum must be protected by local administration,” said the DPP.
He reiterated that police must account for use of firearms in any case of judicial killings.
