DPP orders arrest and prosecution of Busia governor
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has approved the prosecution of Busia Governor Sospeter Ojamoong over alleged abuse of office.
According to DPP Noordin Haji, Ojaamong alongside 9 county staff are accused of irregular acquisition of integrated solid waste management services in the county.
DPP Haji further indicated that the Governor flouted procurement procedures leading to the loss of at least 20 million shillings.
The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) had accused the governor of single sourcing a company registered under the name Madam R Ltd, which was awarded a tender for waste management.
The Governor however sought to absolve himself from blame, accusing the anti-graft body of political witch-hunt.
