Drama as 300 boda boda riders storm hospital in Mwea, drag patient out before killing him

Operations at the Kimbimbi Sub-county Hospital in Mwea were thrown into disarray after 300 boda boda riders stormed the facility, abducting a patient who was getting treated.

The lot then dragged the patient from the hospital and frog marched him 30 kilometres away from the facility before they lynched him.

According to Nyangati Senior Chief Immaculate Wanjiru the deceased was saved by police officers Thursday evening on the Mwea-Embu highway from a civilian who wanted to kill him for reportedly stealing a motorbike.

He was rushed to the hospital after the attack with serious injuries.

The deceased reportdly confessed to having stolen five motorbikes in the past few weeks.

He said the bikes were stashed at a hideout in Murinduko.

The over the 300 riders who were eager to find the bikes went to Murinduko village to recover the bikes but were shocked to realise they had been duped.

They would then make a beeline for the hospital on Friday afternoon.

Police officers who spoke to this reporter said they were not prepared at the time to respond appropriately.

The body of the deceased which was burnt beyond recognition was picked by police officers from the Kianyaga police station and moved to the Kerugoya Hospital Mortuary.
