Drama as Chinese man blocks CAS Wavinya Ndeti from inspecting Ksh.1B project

There was drama on Wednesday after a Chinese man stopped Transport CAS Wavinya Ndeti and several government officials from inspecting a Ksh.1 billion project in Liwatoni, Mombasa.

Several videos making rounds online showed Wavinya and several other people in a heated disagreement with the China Road and Bridge Corporation contractor.

The contractor had locked the gates and informed the visitors that he needed to have been informed of the visit.

One man can be seen shoving the Chinese engineer aside as the visitors and journalists made their way into the gate.

He also asked the police officers accompanying them to handcuff the contractor in the escalating drama

The contractor said the reason for the standoff was because he had not been notified of any scheduled inspection.

He demanded to know who had authorised Wavinya to make the visit without notifying him in advance.

“No one informed us of any plans of visiting to check (sic), you understand?” the contractor asked.

The stand-off was resolved after Mvita Sub County Deputy County Commissioner Charles Monari intervened.
