Drama as man is caught pants down with 16-year-old student at lodging

A middle aged man and a secondary school girl spent the night behind bars at Meru Police station after they were arrested at a Meru town lodging on Tuesday night.

Harrisson Mucheke, 24, was arrested at Shirikisho Boarding and Lodging with a 16-year-old girl who is said to be a Form 3 student at a local secondary school.

According to eyewitnesses, the 24-year-old man was seen entering the lodging premises with the girl. Upon recognising the teenager, the eyewitnesses alerted her father.

Infuriated, the girl’s dad stormed into the room and found the two naked. At this juncture, police were called to the lodging and they apprehended the man and the teenager.

The dramatic incident attracted a huge crowd of onlookers, with many struggling to catch a glimpse at the two as police whisked them away from the lodging.

After the arrest, the girl’s father, who appeared in the police station, said that he had given the girl pocket money 30 minutes before he was notified that she had been spotted at the lodging.

He added that the girl left home in her school uniform, therefore he was surprised to find her civilian clothes.

Police have launched an inquiry into matter, and charges will be preferred against the suspect once investigations are complete.

Reports of such cases have been on the rise in recent months.

In early December, a 23-year-old man was arrested by police when he was found cohabiting with two female Class 7 pupils.

The man, who makes a living by selling miraa in Musingini Market in Embu, was housing the two underage girls who had been reported missing since November.

In November, a 21-year-old man named Fran Kinoti was apprehended by Maara District police when he was found living with a 17-year-old Form Three student.

When interrogated by police, the Form Three student reveled that she was expecting Kinoti’s child.

Despite claims that the two were in love, police arrested Kinoti for defilement.

The legal age of consent in Kenya is 18, and any person found having sexual relations with a minor can be prosecuted for defilement.
