Drama as Mwea MP storms police station over 'missing' miraa

Mwea MP Kabinga Wachira stormed Sagana Police Station on Monday over the disappearance of miraa said to be worth million of shillings.

Police said the lorry transporting the miraa had been seized after it was involved in a road accident at Makutano trading center where a boda boda rider died.

Mwea West OCPD Stephen Wenda had a difficult time trying to explain to the MP why the miraa had been offloaded.

“We agreed that all detained vehicles  transporting miraa should be held at the police station until the case is solved. It is shocking to me that the Sagana police officers have released the miraa and left the lorry empty,” the MP said.

Police however maintained that miraa transporters found to be driving carelessly will be detained until they are cleared by the court of law.

Leaders in Kirinyaga have been meeting to discuss issues affecting residents including accidents caused by miraa vehicles.
