Drama as Nyeri Mourners Dump Body at Police Station

The irate mourners from Mukurweini Constituency claimed that the man was shot dead by a police officer over a week ago.

The over 500 mourners overpowered police officers manning the station to dump the body at the report desk.

They engaged police officers in a bitter exchange of words which culminated in a confrontation between the two opposing groups, with the mourners pelting stones at the officers.

The officers, who included the Mukurweini OCPD Beatrice Kimoning’, pleaded with the residents to pick the body after the situation had cooled down but to no avail. 

They later took to the streets paralyzing business and chanting anti-police slogans. They accused police officers of trying to cover up the matter to save their colleague.
