Drama as parents threaten to lynch head teacher over ‘sexual harassment’
Drama unfolded at Kamtonga Primary School in Mwatate, Taita Taveta County when parents and villagers threatened to lynch the schools’ head teacher for allegedly molesting pupils sexually.
Armed parents and neighbors of the school stormed the head master’s office where he had locked himself since 8am in fear of mob justice.
Speaking to the press at the school, parents claimed that the head master had been sexually molesting the minors and when they reported the matter, no action was taken.
Few minutes later, Administration Police and their Regular counterparts came in to save the head master from the angry parents who claimed the school head should be transferred since he has over stayed in the school.
The headmaster claimed the move by the parents was malicious adding that some people who did not like him engineered the drama. He said it was due to his firm stand on those people who impregnated school-going girls in the area.
Mwatate Officer Commanding Police Station (OCPD) assured that investigations are underway to establish the truth and should the head teacher be found culpable, he will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
After the incident, pupils were sent home indefinitely by the school’s committee.
