Driver accused of killing student in road accident to undergo trial

A driver who allegedly caused death of a 21-year University student has lost a bid to block his prosecution.

The court ruled that the hearing of Job Nyongesa Wangila’s case, who allegedly killed the student along Thika Road while trying to avoid alcohol blow, will go on.

The prosecution alleges that on January 30, 2016, along Thika Superhighway in Nairobi while he tried to escape an alcohol blow test, he used the wrong side of the road hence colliding with another vehicle causing death of the said Engineering student.

Nyongesa had argued that the charge sheet was defective and therefore should not be prosecuted.

However, State Counsel, Mary Nganga, objected arguing that the charge sheet was properly before the court and met the all the constitutional requirements.

Nyongesa is out on a Ksh 100,000 cash bail.
