Drunk cop killed in Kawangware after shoot out with colleagues

A police officer was shot dead following a shootout with fellow officers who were on patrol at Coast area in Kawangware, Nairobi County.

Benson Indenje, is reported to have been drunk when a scuffle with boda boda operators ensued at a bus stop in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

“They officers who were on patrol challenged him to surrender but he shot at the officers injuring PC Kenneth Kimathi on the left wrist,” the police reads.

Police Constable Indenje had been stationed at Riruta Police Station.

He was rushed to Nairobi Women’s Hospital at Adams Arcade but pronounced dead on arrival.

It is alleged that the officer had threatened to shoot the boda boda operators.

He was found with a Ceska pistol F6974 that had fired seven rounds of 9mm.

The body has been moved to Chiromo morgue awaiting autopsy.

His colleague Kimathi who was injured in the shootout is currently undergoing treatment at Chiromo Lane Medical Centre.
