Drunk cop leads county officials to Kiambu store, liquor impounded

By James Wakahiu

Kiambu County Government has impounded liquor from a store in Juja after a police officer came to a security meeting drunk.

The intoxicated officer disrupted the meeting that was being presided over by Juja DCC Charles Muriithi.

Upon interrogation, the drunk cop said he had bought his drink from the outlet in Witeithie Estate.

Immediately the meeting was concluded, police county officers raided the store.

County askaris loaded assorted wines and spirits onto five police vehicles and took them to Juja Police Station.

A woman who was found at the liquor with her son was also arrested.

Meanwhile, the drunk officer has been issued with marching orders (for transfer) pending further disciplinary action.

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has in the past reiterated that he will not relent in the fight against alcoholism.
