Duale Calls For Peace In Mandera

Duale said that it was hurtful to see the peaceful co-existence of the two communities that has existed for years go into ruin.

While speaking during the official launch of Umma University in Garrisa, Duale warned those engaging in the killings saying they were ashaming the Muslim community.

“I would like to tell political leaders, religious leaders, elders and youths, that it is such a big shame when the rest of Kenyans are developing we are busy killing our children, our mothers, and our elders because of ethical clashes. I am urging our brothers in Mandera County to please stop the clashes, ” said Duale.

Duale further said that the government would not hesitate to take stern action against any individual who would be found to have involved in the clashes in either way.

His comments come just a day after armed militia attacked the villages of Guba and Hullow burning several manyattas and looting a primary school.

At least 31 people have lost their lives since the fighting started two months ago.
