Dubai-based firm gets Ksh 2.5B ballot paper printing tender again

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has awarded a Ksh 2.5 billion ballot paper printing tender to Dubai-based firm, Al-Ghurair.

The electoral commission awarded the tender to the firm after the previous award was nullified by the High Court in February this year.

The case had been filed by the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) against the electoral body and the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board.

In February, Justice George Odunga nullified the tender and directed IEBC to begin a fresh tendering process which adheres to the applicable laws.

The award of the tender had previously been challenged by a losing bidder who lodged an appeal before the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board citing irregularities.
