EABL among best companies to work for in Africa

American multinationals (operating in Africa), Proctor and Gamble, East African Breweries Limited (EABL) and Microsoft are the three best companies to work for in Africa.

This is according to the first ever employee-driven survey ranking the 100 best companies to work for in Africa.

EABL also came in second in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Leadership and Management and FMCG categories.

The survey sampled 13,242 respondents working in 54 African countries and is the only independent survey among the 54 African markets and based on 29 separate global, local and pan-African attraction drivers used to define a great employer. Respondents from Africa’s talent pool provided their views on organizations that they would be most interested in working for.

“EABL‘s ambition is to become the best performing, most trusted and respected consumer goods company in Africa. This is a fantastic achievement that extends our ambitions beyond East Africa to the entire continent. It is humbling to see EABL recognized as one of the top two employer brands in Africa reinforcing our quest to become Diageo’s jewel in Africa,” said Group Managing Director for EABL, Charles Ireland after receiving the four awards on behalf of EABL.

Commenting on the achievement, Rupert Adcock, Managing Director of the Global Career Company said: “The overall Careers in Africa Employer of Choice for 2015 is P&G, who were also successful in the FMCG category, seeing off strong competition from East African Breweries in both categories.”

“It is credit to them and their policies that they have made the top spots. I was also happy to see some strong African groups competing with the more established names. I’m sure that more will reach the Top 100 next year,” added Adcock.

“Being top two in Africa in four key categories was no mean achievement for us especially considering this came from over 13,000 professionals in the diaspora. This speaks to the tremendous work that has gone behind building the employer brand and multi-year talent program,” commented Paul Kasimu EABL Group Human Resource Director.

Also making the top 100 best employers were DSTV, Total, Shell, JP Morgan, Eco-bank, GE and Dangote. The survey was conducted between September-October 2015 and was spearheaded by leading African recruitment specialists Global Career Company in association with Towers Watson.
