EACC Arrests 11 Traffic Police Officers In Nakuru

Among those arrested in the operation was a motorist who was allegedly trying to bribe the officers

The operation was conducted near Free Area, Kiti and Eveready round about.

According to EACC Spokesman Yasin Amaro, the arrests was conducted after a two-days surveillance by the team.

Amaro said EACC acted after receiving complaints from motorists who claimed they were being harassed by the traffic officers

He said that officers who man Eveready Roundabout were the most notorious as there is a speed camera stationed there.

He said that video footage in their possession show the officers collecting bribes.

Those arrested had folded notes stashed in their pockets and caps.

Drivers who were interviewed welcomed the move saying the arrests was a major breakthrough in the fight against corruption. 

The officers are set to be arraigned in court once their file was ready.
