Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) on Tuesday arrested a clerk attached at the Bondo Magistrate Court in Siaya County over corruption claims.

Martin Manyala is accused of soliciting a bribe of Ksh.9,000 from John Misula to allegedly compromise an undisclosed case.

EACC Western Kenya Regional Manager Ignatius Wekesa said the officers acted on Tuesday morning after receiving a complaint from Mr. Misula who has a pending case at the court.

The officer revealed that the detectives laid a trap and nabbed Mr. Manyala after receiving the bribe at the court offices in Bondo.

Manyala was booked at Bondo Police Station where he recorded a statement as investigations continue.

According to the EACC boss, the suspect is set to be arraigned in court to face charges of soliciting a bribe to obstruct justice.
