EACC arrests two gov’t officials over Ksh.32M office block tender
- The two officers, Caleb Momanyi, chief architect and Ben Omenta, assistant architect in the roads and public works department are said to be in charge of designing a building meant for public works office.
- The EACC officials confiscated files that could be having crucial information regarding the building and they are still on the hunt for the Executive Committee Member (ECM)
Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Tuesday stormed a government building in Nyamira town and arrested two officials over unclear tendering and building of controversial office blocks worth Ksh.32 million.
The detectives, during the raid at the Roads and Public Works Offices, took to custody Caleb Momanyi (Chief Architect) and Ben Omenta (Assistant Architect) who are said to be in charge of designing a building meant for public works office.
The two were briefly held at Nyamira Police Station where they recorded statements.
The EACC detectives further confiscated files reported to contain crucial information regarding the building and are still on the hunt for Nyamira County CEC Roads and Transport, Mr. John Omanwa who was said to have been at a workshop in Mombasa at the time.
A week ago, the team from EACC also ransacked Nyamira County Assembly offices in regards to the tendering and awarding of the tender of an administration block worth Ksh.379 million.
