EACC takes anti-graft war to counties
The Ethics Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is taking the war against corruption to the counties in a bid to stamp out the vice in the county.
Last month, the anti-graft body opened an office in Isiolo to serve Isiolo, Samburu, Marsabit, Meru and Tharaka Nithi Counties. The move was welcomed by locals who reported incidences of corruption in the region, 90 per cent of which were related to land.
Isiolo residents lamented that Government officials are slow in attending to their cases and some even ask for bribes before dealing with their issues
Upper Eastern EACC boss Ignatius Wekesa said that the names of those mentioned are being recorded and commission will take legal action after investigations are completed
This comes months after President Uhuru Kenyatta declared war on graft in which he asked top government officials named in corruption cases to step aside.
