EACC urged to investigate funds in Mois office

Baringo County Assembly members wants the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate the usage of funds allocated to the office of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.

Led by Assembly Majority Chief Whip Reuben Chepsongol, the county legislators on Thursday said Senator Moi’s office, which is located in the County Assembly premises, has remained dormant for years.

According to Mr. Chepsongol, the liaison office has been given a notice of one month by the Assembly to explain why the office remains closed in most occasions, failure to which they will have the space reallocated.

Majority of the MCAs say they lack offices in the Assembly, hence, they don’t see the need of any premised remaining closed and dormant.

“We are not issuing this notice as Jubilee leaders but in the interest of services that need to be delivered by the office to the community. For how long should the local residents keep coming to this office but not get services,” posed the Assembly Chief Whip.

Mr. Chepsongol said this was the final notice they were issuing, after an earlier one given earlier this month was apparently ignored by officers running the office.

The decision to call for a probe into operations of the office triggered a bitter exchange between Jubilee-allied MCAs and those from the KANU party which chaired by Gideon Moi.
