EACC working on 10,000 corruption cases – Kinisu

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) chair Philip Kinisu says the commission is working on 10,000 corruption cases touching on various sectors of the society.

Kinisu says EACC detectives are investigating 7,000 graft files and finalizing on the other 3,000 after which the individuals named in the cases will be arraigned in court.

Speaking during a courtesy call to the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi at his Parliament office, the anti-graft boss said that the commission’s staff are also being vetted to ensure none has a tainted background.

On his part, the NA Speaker expressed willingness of Parliament to collaborate with the anti graft commission to fight the increasing cases of graft in the country.

This comes barely a fortnight after the commission announced it had recovered assets worth 9 billion shillings over the last ten years and 600 million shillings in cash.
