EALA MP Simon Mbugua charged with robbery with violence 

EALA MP Simon Mbugua has been charged with robbery with violence after he was linked to the assault on Timothy Muriuki.

Hired goons roughed up Mr. Muriuki, former chairman of the Nairobi Central Business District Association on April 30.

The incident recorded on camera at a city hotel led to a Ksh.2.5 million police bounty for the five suspects who allegedly went into hiding.

Pictures doing rounds on social media however showed one of the men apparently at a wedding with Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

No arrests have been made so far.

On Wednesday, Mr. Simon Mbugua pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuke.

The legislator, who spent the night at Central Police Station in Nairobi, has been remanded pending his bail ruling at 2pm.

Police have since placed a 500,000 bounty on each of the five suspects,who have since gone into hiding.
